if i'm going to make a wheat beer, i'm going to give it a bowie name. why? absolutely no reason, much like all my previous bowie beers. they've all turned out pretty good so it's about time for another. wheat beers are notorious for being ready to drink in a short time, and so i figured, why not?!
zeit! is the name of bowie's re-released berlin trilogy albums from the late 70s, and accordingly, the german wheat martin and i co-made, will be called zeit!-weizen. zeit, in german, can refer to periods of time, and as such, this beer will represent the last bowie beer i make. it's been a lovely period of making bowie beers, and i daresay i may even do more in the future, but i think the ones i have at the moment are some classics and i intend on tweaking them and making them better. if i do make another one down the track, it'll be of an english nature and i'll use some signature english earthy hops.
for now though, sexyfuntime is fixing its gaze on the u.s of a, and getting all american up in here. the next big beers are going to be some nice american IPAs and pale ales to enjoy over summer. down the track this will change but of late, the sexyfuntime focus has been a bit all over the place. not bad, but for some reason i make better beers when i'm making similar styles back to back.
am looking to get my new system all tweaked and am getting a bunch of new goodies soon for christmas. i need to get a new thermometer, make sure i have all my volumes sorted so i'm on the money with my beer making and can make close to exactly what i plan on making. i'll also be getting a nice grain mill to make my grain crushing a lot easier and lastly, getting a chiller so i can do everything in the one day and won't have to cube my beers anymore.
the hadden IPA is fermenting along nicely and although i didn't get all my numbers and figures right for it, it has seemed to turn out surprisingly well! am looking forward to tasting it more once done. stay tuned.
sexyfuntime,
fletcher.
