so i wanted to make some big american beers in the new year, but alas, alack, i have decided that one of my first beers should be one of a southern american variety. welcome, the slowpoke cerveza.
it was either a very simple japanese rice lager or a harder-to-make corona clone and i decided upon the latter. basically because it is american (of sorts), and also because the summer heat really lends itself to these easy-drinking lagers. additionally, my 27 monterey lager didn't turn out as well as i'd have liked. so this will be my next lager attempt!
the slowpoke cerveza takes its name from the warner brothers' (somewhat racist) character 'slowpoke' rodriguez, who was 'speedy' gonzalez' slower cousin. he always appeared drunk and so i wanted a mexican beer to celebrate him.
this beer will be very adjunct-heavy. i'll be using a lot of corn (polenta) and rice to mellow this beer out so it tastes hopefully like the very plain and easy sipping corona!
fingers crossed! andalé!
