i really do get asked this a lot. that, and people who see me so excited about the beer i'm making are also fascinated by the process and want to learn more. the answer is 'very'. patience and determination are an added bonus also. i thought i'd make a post with some links for where to get better information for anyone who is generally interested.
i've not really ever been much of a hobby person until i got older, and i must say, it's a fantastic way to spend time; making beer, thinking of recipes, trying those recipes, drinking during it, sitting back and refining the process, and learning more about it. i started by simply seeing a coopers home made beer kit in k-mart of all places, and thought 'why not?'. then came the knocks. everyone has tasted that 'homebrew crap' and hated the awful twangy taste and thought it was just rubbish; and i was no exception. luckily, that only made me try harder and delve deeper into discovering how to make AMAZING tasting, and genuinely nice beer that you could share and be proud to call your own.
i discovered brewing in a bag (BIAB) and that's where i'm at now. a few brews down, making some genuinely lovely beer and am pretty psyched with it all. met some great people who also share the interest, and received some great feedback on my beers.
anyways, long story short, there are a few people who i've spoken to who are keen to check out the process and see it in action, and i welcome anyone who is interested to let me know; i'll happily invite you along for my next brew day. if you're keen to check out more information, see below for some links to some very informative forum posts (with pictures) that detail the whole process. i'll be putting up my own on this site in months to come also. maybe make the explanations a bit easier but these links are pretty sweet. check them out!
