so i've decided that, after reading a lot on various websites that the notorious 'kit twang' is extremely hard to get rid of, i'd be very keen to get straight into AG (all grain) brewing, by using a method called BIAB, or brew in a bag. from what i've read it seems to be quite straight forward; i'll just need to buy a large stainless steel pot and a few meshy-type bags for adding the grains (like in the picture) and the hops. very excited. i'm keen to get to know what sorts of grains and what sorts of malts make certain tastes...and hops. wow....too much to think about, i'm getting too excited here!
hmmmm decisions decisions. i still have a coopers mexican cerveza kit but i'm scared of using it and the beer coming out tasting similar to my last one. i'll have a think. perhaps making a lager with grains and some hop additions i can look to get something similar to the very bland lighter lager style that is like mexican beers.
my over all aim to start making beers that are like commercial 'blander' style beers that i like over the bar, or on tap, or in a bottle. slowly but surely, once i get familiar with the different flavours, i'll be able to add more to my brews and go crazy.
stay tuned for my BIAB purchases!
